2008 marks the fifth anniversary of the PAGE Awards, and it has been a record-breaking event. We received 3,865 scripts this year, submitted by writers from all across the United States and 50 foreign countries. To see where all our entries came from, view our MAP OF CONTESTANTS.
The list of our 2008 Semi-Finalists will be posted on August 1st. This year's Finalists will be posted on September 1st. And our 2008 Winners will be announced on October 1st. If you'd like to enter next year's contest, we will begin accepting entries for the 2009 PAGE Awards competition in December.
Meanwhile, if you'd like to know how our judges would evaluate your screenplay, you can now order JUDGE'S FEEDBACK, Concept Evaluation or In-Depth Script Analysis. Before you submit your script to any Hollywood agency or production company, find out how these working industry professionals will respond. Then use their notes to help you polish your script to perfection.
In addition, we invite you to take a look at the premiere issue of LOGLINE: The Screenwriter's eZine. Our brand new online publication is jam-packed with professional insights, tips and advice – all designed to help you write, market, and sell your screenplay. In each issue you'll find current information about producers seeking new material, as well as other great career opportunities. We hope you'll find it helpful and enjoyable! And if you'd like to receive future issues via email, just sign up in the box on the left side of this page.
OUR MISSION
The PAGE International Screenwriting Awards contest was established by an alliance of Hollywood producers, agents, and development executives. Our goal: to discover the most exciting new scripts by up-and-coming writers from across the country and around the world. And due to the success of our winning writers, the PAGE Awards have rapidly becoming one of the most important sources for new screenwriting talent within the Hollywood community and worldwide.
It's a Catch 22. While producers and agents continually complain that they can't find good material, talented writers who live outside Los Angeles and have no "connections" within the movie industry find it virtually impossible to penetrate the barriers of the Hollywood system. Our screenplay contest is designed to bridge that gap – giving new screenwriters the opportunity to get their scripts into the hands of industry professionals, while also serving as a much-needed resource for Hollywood producers, agents, and studio execs who are searching for quality material.
ABOUT US
All of the PAGE Awards judges are working professionals in the film and television industry, and they, their partners and associates are always seeking fresh and innovative new projects. They're looking for a wide variety of scripts, so we encourage writers to submit all types of material, and we present awards in ten different genre categories.
This year, the winners of our screenplay contest will receive over $30,000 in cash and prizes, including a $10,000 GRAND PRIZE. Most importantly, each year dozens of top producers, agents, and development execs ask to read the winning scripts. As a result, many of our past winners have landed writing assignments, secured representation, and signed option agreements on their work, and several now have movies in various stages of production and release.
Among our latest SUCCESS STORIES: Larry Postel sold his 2005 Grand Prize winning comedy X-MAS FILES to a new 3D animation firm in India and the movie is currently in production. Laurie Weltz and Jay C. Key optioned their 2004 Grand Prize winning script to rolmade filmcompany in Germany. Will Finlay optioned his Gold Prize winning script to Galafilm in Montreal. Sarah Skibinski optioned her Gold Prize winning drama to Jo Films in New York. Soon after the results of our 2006 screenwriting contest were announced, Silver Prize winner Christian Parkes was signed by Foremost Films and his movie is now in pre-production. And a few weeks after the 2007 PAGE Awards were announced, Gold Prize winners Amy Garcia and Cecilia Contreras were signed by ICM.
RAVE REVIEWS
From our winning screenwriters...
"So I think dumbfounded pretty much describes my reaction to the contest results. I'd come home from a terrible day at work, checked the website, and about fell out of my chair. And now, thanks to PAGE, I have been getting weekly requests for my screenplay! You guys rock!"
