Judge's Feedback

Before you submit your script to anyone in Hollywood,
find out how the industry professionals will respond . . .

In response to numerous requests, four years ago we established our Judge's Feedback service, offering contestants detailed notes and constructive comments on their submissions. Over the past few years this service has become extremely popular, and we've received many accolades from writers telling us how much they've appreciated these notes and how helpful the judges' comments have been.

As a result, our judges have decided to expand this service, giving you the opportunity to order notes during our contest off-season. And in addition to standard Judge's Feedback, our judges are now also offering two other types of useful notes: Concept Evaluation to help you develop your treatment, outline, or story idea, and In-Depth Script Analysis to assist you with your rewrite. Or, if you'd simply like a professional to proofread your script to fix formatting, grammar, and typographical errors, we can provide you with that service, as well.

We've designed this new program in an effort to provide you with input that is constructive, effective, and will truly help advance your career.

"The judge's feedback was extremely helpful, and I'm currently making changes based on it. Sometimes you need encouragement to keep writing, and I found the positive comments a real boost."

OUR JUDGES

The judges who write Feedback for the PAGE Awards are all professional script readers and development execs. Their combined working credits include most of the major studios, agencies, production companies, networks and management firms in Los Angeles, including Universal Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Disney, CBS, NBC, William Morris and CAA. These are the industry gatekeepers. They review hundreds of new scripts every year, and they have the power to either advance your script to the next level – or send it to the recycling bin.

And now, they've agreed to go to work for you!

Best of all, if you'd like a broader perspective on your work, you have the opportunity to receive notes from more than one judge. The judges each work independently, and they will not see each other's comments or exchange ideas about your script. They will each evaluate your material from their own unique perspective. So if you request notes from more than one judge, you can compare their different perspectives and determine which comments are useful to you and which are not.

Do the judges all express the same point of criticism? That tells you something important. Do the judges express opposite ideas about some element of your script? That tells you something interesting, as well.

And along with your notes, we'll also send you the credentials of each of your judges, so you can get a sense of who they are and how their various studios, agencies and production companies might respond to your work.

"The judge was right on the mark in every single point. I am happy to know that such competent people are judging the competition."

OUR SERVICES

We've kept the cost of our services extremely reasonable, so now, for less than the price of most individual script consultants, you can receive detailed notes from up to three different industry professionals. And if you order notes from more than one judge, you'll automatically receive a $10 discount off each additional set of notes.

JUDGE'S FEEDBACK (3-5 pages)   $75
The same great Feedback we offer in conjunction with the contest. Your judge will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your script, explain how he or she would score your script if you submitted it to the contest, tell you whether your script would receive a Recommend, Consider or Pass if you submitted it to his or her agency or production company, and offer suggestions and ideas on how to further develop the material.

CONCEPT EVALUATION (2-3 pages)   $50
Notes on your treatment, outline, or story idea. (PLEASE NOTE: This is not for completed screenplays.) Your judge will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your concept, evaluate your treatment or outline, offer suggestions and ideas on how best to develop the material, and evaluate the script's ultimate marketing potential. Concept Evaluation is designed to help you discover any potential pitfalls and resolve problems before you sit down to write the script.

IN-DEPTH SCRIPT ANALYSIS (8-10 pages)   $125
A comprehensive assessment of your screenplay. Your judge will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your script, provide you with detailed examples and page notes, and offer suggestions and ideas on how to further develop the material. In-Depth Analysis is designed for writers who have received Judge's Feedback from one of our judges in the past and who now wish to receive more detailed notes from that judge, and for writers looking for professional help with their rewrite.

On the Submission Form, you'll have the opportunity to tell us if you have any special requests. If you've received Feedback from one of our judges in the past and you'd like that same judge to review your rewrite, please let us know. Or if you'd prefer a fresh perspective from another judge, please tell us that, as well. We'll do our best to accommodate all requests, and we'll let you know in advance if we're unable to do so. Please allow two to three weeks for the judges to review your material.

You may also want to consider using our new PROOFREADING SERVICE. Many writers get so close to their scripts that they cannot see their own spelling errors. Or while writing may be their forte, formatting is not. But correct formatting, spelling and grammar show industry execs that you are serious about the craft of screenwriting, and many execs will quickly toss any script that doesn't conform to industry standards. For this reason, we are now offering a professional proofreading service. Cost is determined upon assessing your script. For a quote, please email your script to our Contest Coordinator: .

"Like taking an advanced course in screenwriting! The notes are lucid, insightful and most helpful."
